Introducing Blowfish Malibu

Blowfish Malibu are the latest brand to be added to our SS13 range. The idea for Blowfish shoes came from one of the founders who kept spotting blowfish in the water on Malibu beach which prompted the name for the fashionable footwear brand when it launched back in 2006.

The brand offers a range of casual and comfortable shoes with individual elements, innovative prints and interesting material combinations to keep things fresh.

Whilst Blowfish have their roots in California, the popularity of the brand has allowed them to become just as popular here in the UK, Australia and Europe. Influenced by the casual LA surf lifestyle, you’ll find a cool yet confident assortment of pumps, sandals and ankle boots in creative and fun styles.

Trend Alert: Florals Are Back!

With Spring comes the inevitable arrival of florals in the fashion world. Whilst this is one trend which never really seems to be out of fashion, most years we see the revival of flowers in one form or another. For SS13, it’s all about big and bright florals to mark the return of the warmer weather (the sunshine WILL come soon, we repeat to ourselves like a mantra).

If you want to embrace this floral trend then why not indulge in floral blazers, floral jumpsuits and floral jeans which have all been big hits on the SS13 catwalks and in celeb-world. Trend Alert: Monochrome

Monochrome is big news this Spring/Summer with many celebs showcasing the trend in dresses, jumpsuits and matching shoes. Whilst monochrome isn’t exactly ground breaking in the sense that most of us have seen the trend come and go over the years, it is nice to see it appearing in the Spring when it’s all too easy to be caught up with the brights and florals of the season.

Dolcis is back!

Back in 2008 Dolcis was a major presence on our high streets with 65 stores and over 150 concessions selling ladies footwear. It has, in fact, been a much loved shoe brand since the 1920′s when it first appeared on UK high streets. Since the brand fell into administration it has had a 5 year absence, but is now back with a bang and some stunning new styles. With a stronger focus on current season trends, you’ll find a range of fashionable shoes with the Dolcis name are creating a stir for spring/summer 2013.

Is it Spring yet?!

Ok, I know it’s only February and a lot of us are still in the midst of snow showers, but our new season shoes are just starting to arrive and this makes us long for the start of Spring. With the darkest winter months drawing to a close, most of us look forward to warmer spring air and flowers making an appearance in the gardens of our once frosty towns and cities. For fashion followers, this is a great time of year when the high streets start to banish the muted and dark tones of winter warmers and begin to burst with bright colours and floaty fabrics.

Our new season shoes and sandals are all about fresh, happy colours and styles that just scream to be taken out for a walk in the sunshine. So whilst we may not have much sunshine yet, getting prepared with new season outfits is all part of the fun, having a new dress and or new pair of shoes sat in your wardrobe just waiting for their first outing is a little treat to look forward to. Valentine’s Day – Love or Hate?

It seems that Valentine’s day divides the nation. Is it a daft day full of forced romantic sentiments or is it a great excuse to show off your love for someone?

Retailers seem to relish in the idea that men across the country will be desperate to buy a token of love for the lady in their life in the form of A) items of tiny red mesh underwear with or without accompanying suspenders B) heart shaped chocolates or C) a teddy bear with a heart on its chest. All these are fine gifts (if you are a practicing stripper, not watching your weight and are happy to receive presents as an adult which you also received when you were 5) but are these really the most wanted presents? Probably not, and as the Valentine’s haters would agree, this is just a ‘Hallmark day’ with no real meaning – if you love someone, you don’t need Valentine’s Day to show it, nor will teddy bears help get your message across any better.

On the flip side, whilst some prefer not to partake in the giving of soppy greeting cards, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the extra romance, presents and most of all spending time with that special someone on the 14^th. Of course, Valentine’s Day is traditionally for those of us who are single and want to send a semi-anonymous sign of affection to someone admired from afar. How many of us still do this kind of thing in 2013 remains to be seen, but if Valentines day isn’t your thing then just enjoy time with your friends instead and why not buy yourself a little Valentines treat, something that you actually want… like shoes!

Snow Days

 

So the snow this week has caused all kinds of mayhem. Cars being abandoned, sledges being used for the less fun activity of carrying food shopping and people walking like penguins across icy pavements in attempt to stay upright. Whilst many of us wish for summer to make a speedy arrival, there is something quite special about the effect snow has on us all. It brings a sense of nostalgia and reminds us of a time when seeing snow fall was the most exciting winter event bar the day when the bearded man in a red suit delivers the latest must-have toys.

This week we’ve been shoe-spotting to see what our fellow ladies feel is fit for the snow. It seems most of us opt for the sensible choice of wellies or trainers, but we have seen the odd brave soul in 5 inch heels. I guess for those of us used to wearing heels, the sudden arrival of the icy stuff isn’t a reason to forget your usual style and attempt getting around in flats.
